Join in Fun Palaces with Perth Theatre

September 18, 2020 by Perthshire Creates

Wherever you are! You can join in Fun Palaces 2020 on Sat 3 + Sun 4 Oct with Perth Theatre. They are inviting people across Perth and Kinross to get involved in Fun Palaces, a weekend of activities run for and by the local community.

Perhaps you’re an amateur gardener, footballer or photographer willing to share your top tips; or a keen cook interested in demonstrating your latest lockdown recipe. Maybe you learnt five words in a new language during lockdown and you’re just itching to share them; or you’d like to run a yoga session in the park, or show us how to braid our hair, or teach us about a lesser known part of Scottish history. You might even have ideas about how to turn pavements into art galleries. Whatever your interest, no matter how big or small, we’re looking for people to share their enthusiasm and knowledge as part of the Fun Palaces programme.

Over the weekend of 3 and 4 October, Perth Theatre want you, the people of Perth and Kinross, to share and run an activity either as an online demonstration or as a socially distanced event.  They’ll promote your event on their website, offer guidance, and support the technical side of delivering online sessions. You can go it alone or join the many people who’ve already signed up to showcase their skills through our Zoom Palace on Saturday 3 October.

Fun Palaces is a free, nationwide campaign that supports local people to co-create their own cultural and community events, sharing and celebrating the genius in everyone. Arts, science, craft, tech, digital, heritage, sports activities – and most importantly people – will work together, have fun together and in doing so will connect with your own communities from the grassroots up. Since 2014 a total of 1758 Fun Palaces have been made across the UK and worldwide by over 40,000 local people with 560,000 people taking part, placing people at the heart of culture and culture at the heart of community.
