Be the first to see a selection of the multi-award-winning artist’s films by the Canadian artist Marlene Millar spanning 30 years of her creative practice. Some of you may have even met Marlene during her artist’s residency in Perth throughout May and June this year.
For one day only, at the exhibition preview on Sat, 29 Jun 2019, 3-6pm, you can see Marlene’s works on the big screen at the Gannochy Auditorium, Perth Concert Hall which include ‘Pilgrimage’ (with Sandy Silva), ‘1001 Lights’ and ‘Bhairava’ (with Philip Szporer). Help unveil Marlene’s most ambitious body of work to date entitled ‘Witness’ (with Carol Prieur) – Horsecross Arts latest commission and museum acquisition for Threshold Artspace.
Preview the films, talk to the artist and curator, and welcome the special guests Dru Stein with Danns-Ed dance company, London-based screen dance curator and lecturer Gitta Wigro, Perth’s own Jim Mackintosh (performance poetry) and Debra Salem with Craigie Choir.
Marlene’s solo exhibition (click here to watch the trailer) continues until 5 Oct 2019 at Threshold Artspace, Perth Concert Hall. It is curated by Iliyana Nedkova and produced by Horsecross Arts, the artist and curator for Threshold Artspace in partnership with Perth Film Society, Craigie Choir, Danns-Ed, University of Edinburgh, Screen.Dance Scotland, Goat Media and Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland. It is supported by Horsecross Arts, Canada Council for the Arts and CALQ Quebec Council for the Arts.
