Local artists invited to open rehearsal in Perth Theatre

The creators of Plan B For Utopia are inviting artists, designers or anyone who wants to practice their artistic skills, to come along to an open technical rehearsal in Perth Theatre on Saturday 10 March.

Dancers Soléne Weinachter and Joan Clevillé will perform a mixture of dance, theatre and storytelling, giving artists the chance to practice their sketching skills on live, moving subjects in a changing environment.

Following the drawing session artists are encouraged to approach Iliyana Nedkova, Horsecross Arts Creative Director of Contemporary Art with a proposal for an artwork to be exhibited at Threshold artspace, Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre, exploring screen dance inspired by Plan B for Utopia.

Plan B For Utopia is an exploration of how we choose to live our lives: about having a dream, giving it up and trying again, but above all, a story about friendship. It is a fresh and original combination of dance, theatre and storytelling, featuring two versatile and charismatic performers.

The open rehearsal will take place from 4-6pm in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio on Saturday 10 March. Artists are advised that, at times, the auditorium will be quite dark so they are encouraged to bring a reading light, headtorch or similar small light.

Part of Perth Theatre’s Studio Season, Plan B for Utopia is in the Joan Knight Studio on Saturday 10 March at 8pm. There is a panel discussion – Play Writing and the Creation of Dance with the creators in the Joan Knight Studio on Friday 9 March at 6pm.
