ARTIST ROOMS: Louise Bourgeois Engagement programme

October 3, 2017 by Perthshire Creates

ARTIST ROOMS: Louise Bourgeois is currently showing at Perth Museum & Art Gallery following a major display of works by the French-American artist at the new Tate Modern Gallery.  Running until 18 November, you can feel the intense, psychological impact of Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010), one of the most influential artists of our time.

To further study Bourgeois’ works and to develop an insight into how the artist used different processes of making such as sewing, printmaking and sculpture to explore ideas such as identity, memory and her sense of what is to be human, an extensive programme of workshops and talks is available for visitors of all ages.

A programme of Family Workshops allows an opportunity to play with materials and try your hand at printing, sculpture and pewter casting.  A series of Workshops & Talks include guided curator tours of the ARTIST ROOMS: Louise Bourgeois Exhibition as well as opportunities to take part in workshops to play with processes and materials, explore ideas and push your own creative boundaries to create work in response to the exhibition.

A Youth Arts Programme runs to co-incide with the first week of the PKC October Holidays (9-13 October).  A free immersive arts week for young people aged 16-25, participants will have the opportunity to create a body of work inspired by the ARTIST ROOMS: Louise Bourgeois exhibition.  It also provides a chance to work with professional artists to develop a variety of different skills from sketchbook development to bronze casting.  An ideal opportunity for anyone wanting to develop a career in the Creative Industries and/or apply to Art College.  For an application form and further details you can email Helen O’Brien on

The majority of opportunities are free to attend with booking required via the image links below.  The Masterclass Workshop on Saturday 4 November with artist Susie Johnston is a professional development workshop and costs £40 and bookable via the image link detailed below.

For further information/enquiries for any of the talks and workshops please contact Helen O’Brien on, Tel: 01738 477679
