Music at Platform

Platform is Perthshire’s new festival of creativity, a chance to push your boundaries and try something different, a week long celebration of contemporary art and performance in venues across Perth & Kinross. Running from Sat 25 March to Sat 1 April, this inaugural year of the festival will host over 30 events including exhibitions, design, photography, artists talks, gigs, special installations, drama and film.

If you enjoy live music, there are a couple of events featuring local bands and even an opportunity to take the mic in an Open Mic Session at The Venue  in Perth.

Thursday 30 March, The Mad Ferret Band & Friends, 6.30pm, Perth Museum

Come along to hear the Mad Ferret Band & guests for a Night at The Museum.  Perth folk duo the Mad Ferret Band are known for their lively, energetic performances that are packed with harmonies and a collection of sounds, although a duo they sound like a full band. On the night they will be joind by two other acts.

Tickets are £7.50 and include stovies, a cash bar will be available. Doors open 6.30pm for stovies and the performance starts at 7pm. Book your tickets on Eventbrite.

 

Saturday 1 April, The Gutenbergs, 7.30pm, Birnam Library

The Gutenbergs are a band from Dunkeld playing original songs based on short stories from 150 years of literature. With a melodic, distinctive sound, their detailed songs all begin from unique short stories.  They will be bringing their music to the Library, performing ‘among the books’ (which is where their music begins…) and spread the word about what they are doing.

The Gutenbergs mix up different artforms, including short films. They play songs together, and perform using readings and stories to bring the songs to life. Tickets £5, available online using link above available on Eventbrite.

 

Sunday 26 March, The Mad Ferret Band Sunday Social Open Mic Session, 3pm – 7.30pm, The Venue, Perth

Come along to this Open Mic session to see who joins The Mad Ferret Band, the adhoc and unplanned nature of this session could see anything from solo musicians, groups, poets, collaborations take the stage, interspersed with projected images from the Mad Ferret Band Sight & Sounds of Perthshire project featuring the theme of people & place in Perthshire. A fun afternoon and evening with stovies on offer, 10% discount on drinks, an inspiring & creative way to be entertained and often surprised and enjoy a Sunday.
