Platform is Perthshire’s new festival of creativity, a chance to push your boundaries and try something different, a week long celebration of contemporary art and performance in venues across Perth & Kinross. Running from Sat 25 March to Sat 1 April, this inaugural year of the festival will host over 30 events including exhibitions, design, photography, artists talks, gigs, special installations, drama and film.
A few events provide the opportunity to meet the artist and get involved in person.
Wednesday 29 March, Diana King Jewellery Workshop, 10am – 1pm, North Inch Community Library, Perth
Help create a unique piece of artwork using wirewrapping beads with Diana King Jewellery Using River Tay and Perth as inspiration you will be wire wrapping beads over shapes which reflect the beauty of the river to use within a 9 frame collage to be displayed at the North Inch Community Campus Library for the Platform Festival. Wednesday 29 March, Meet illustrator Dylan Gibson, 5-7pm, Pitlochry Library

Sunday 26 March, The Mad Ferret Band Sunday Social Open Mic Session, 3pm – 7.30pm, The Venue, Perth
Come along and maybe even join in this Open Mic session at The Venue in Perth, hosted by The Mad Ferret Band, the adhoc and unplanned nature of this session could see anything from solo musicians, groups, poets, collaborations take the stage, interspersed with projected images from the Mad Ferret Band Sight & Sounds of Perthshire project featuring the theme of people & place in Perthshire. A fun afternoon and evening with stovies on offer, 10% discount on drinks, an inspiring & creative way to be entertained and often surprised and enjoy a Sunday.

You’re invited to come along on the opening day on, to meet and hear from the artists who will be talking about their work from 11 o’clock on Saturday 25 April. For those who’d prefer to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, Perthshire Visual Arts Forum are running a collaborative art event to close their exhibition starting 2 o’clock, Saturday 1 April, which will run to 4 o’clock.
