Solas Arts Festival 2016

Solas Arts Festival takes place in The Bield at Blackruthven, Perthshire from 17-19 June 2016.

Solas is Scotland’s midsummer festival which has been running since 2009. The all-age weekend-long celebration of music and the arts is designed to entertain, inspire and challenge. The programme also makes space for challenging debate with activists, writers and thinkers from across the political, cultural and religious spectrum. Solas Festival offers a creative and entertaining programme for festival-goers of all ages in a safe environment.

The programme is broad and inclusive welcoming everyone, there really is something there for all tastes. The line up includes theatre, poetry, music, workshops, debate, family shows, visual arts as well as food stalls and a market place.  The full line up and ticket information can be found on the Solas Festival Website.

With a vibrant selection of up to 30 different musical offerings from hip hop, electro loops, jazz, folk to the celtic rock band Skerryvore who headline the event on Friday 17th June.

There are a number of workshops and events for all age groups to get involved in from the ariel acrobatics from Perth based ‘Adventure Circus’ to the large scale interactive illustrated installation by Katie Guthrie from ‘Hell Yeah’ Arts Collective.

There are also many strands to the ‘Talks & Ideas’ which will focus on looking at the current refugee crisis, the refugee community of Scotland and what can and has been done to help those in need of shelter and protection.

There are many performing and visual artists at the festival including the spoken word, art installations, photography, puppet theatre and glow hoop light shows. The Den is an area specifically designed for young people and activities for the wee ones run throughout the festival.
