Open Call – Post Box Cellar Art Exhibition

May 30, 2016 by Perthshire Creates

Submissions are now being accepted for the 3rd Post Box Cellar Art Exhibition.  The theme of this exhibition is ‘Letters of the Past’, based on the  history of the building being the first post box to open in Perth.

To submit works please download the Application Form. The deadline is Friday 10 June 2016 at 23:30, there is no submission fee.

The project was set up by Kirsty Dalton, who is a recent graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone.  Having recently moved back to her hometown of Perth, she found that there were not that many opportunities for artists to display their work in the area.  Her first exhibition featured a wide range of artists that she met during her time studying in Dundee.  As it was a successful event, a series of quarterly exhibitions are now planned for 2016.  When discussing the exhibition Kirsty says:

“We are looking for contemporary and traditional visual artists, both emerging and established, working in any 2D medium.  We will also be accepting a limited number of small sculptures and welcome submissions from any country by artists of any age.”

David and Katriona Will owners of the Post Box Restaurant and Cellar Bar are keen to host such an event to help assist local artists and allow their establishment to tie in with the creative side of the area as they are located next to Perth Museum and Concert hall. The idea is to give a different platform for locally based artists to display their work.

Some key dates to note and before applying you’re asked to read over the terms and conditions before sending your application.  If you are a successful applicant, work must be delivered to the Post Box Cellar Bar by 14 June so that it is ready to be hung for the opening on 17 June.  Work is also expected to be collected by the artists on 31 August.

Send your application to postboxexhibitions@gmail.com.
