Perth College UHI – Open Day on Wednesday 9th March
March 1, 2016 by Perthshire Creates

The Perth College UHI Open Day on Wednesday 9th March is a fabulous opportunity to discover in person the varied creative industries courses available.
Study subjects include Music, Art & Design, Contemporary Art Practice, Technical Theatre, Visual Design & Communication and Audio Engineering, at a wide variety of course levels from NQ, HNC, HND and BA (Hons). Click here for full details on the creative courses available at Perth College UHI.
‘BAH Contemporary Art Practice in the Public Sphere’ is a new course launching in September 2016 (subject to validation). This is a two year degree that follows on directly from the HND Contemporary Art Practice and has a particular focus upon developing an individual practice within a collaborative and public sphere.
Previous students from the ‘Creative Industries Department’ at Perth College UHI have moved into various jobs within the creative sector. 75% of graduates from the BAH Visual Design & Communication course have found positions within 6 months of finishing their course, working as in-house designers for local companies throughout Tayside and Stirling, the design department at Aberdeen University and freelance commissions throughout the UK amongst others.
Students are encouraged to develop their links with the wider creative community whilst still studying and engage with opportunities which both complement their course content and broaden their own experience. Two current students were delighted to be chosen as winners of the £1,000 Tayside landscape prizes. One student is on the Higher Photography Course, the other was an NC Art & Design Student last year who has progressed to the HNC Contemporary Art Practice this year.
The department is also working on the ‘NHS – Days gone by’ project on behalf of Murray Royal in Perth, to create artwork and framed imagery for three separate wards within the hospital. The project is led by HND Year 2 Contemporary Art Practice students and is currently underway.
There are end of year exhibitions and performances scheduled between now and the end of the academic year, check the Perth College UHI website for more details
