Spring programme announced from East Perthshire Arts

East Perthshire Arts is dedicated to bringing theatre, music, comedy and much more to audiences in Blairgowrie and beyond. Their current programme of events starts from February until May 2016 with a variety of shows for all ages. All the events detailed below are held at the Blairgowrie Town Hall, Brown Street, Blairgowrie, PH10 6EX.

Dinosaur Detectives
Date: Saturday 27th February

This family show appeals to children and adults alike. The ‘Dinosaur Detectives’ use rod puppets, shadow play and childrens’ toys to show the fascination, fun and the conflict that surrounds the first finds of ancient bones……. Book tickets for ‘Dinosaur Detectives’ on Eventbrite
Netting
Date: Friday 18th March
Time: 7.30pm (doors open 7pm)
Show time: 1 hour
Age restrictions: 14+

Netting is set in the North of Scotland and follows three women (played by Carol Ann Crawford, Joyce Falconer and Sarah McCardie) adapting to their lives as widows, after a father and his two sons are lost at sea. Kitty can’t stop knitting. Alison needs looking after. Sylvia wants to forget. Then, one day, a knock on the door. A body has been found. One body, three women. Who does it belong to?
Set in the north of Scotland, “Netting” is a story of finding closure after unimaginable loss.
Netting was developed as part of the New Playwright’s Award 2014 (Playwright’s Studio, Scotland) and featured in the a Play, Pie and a Pint Spring 2015 season at Oran Mor, Glasgow and The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen. The original creative team and cast will present the first Scotland wide tour of Netting in SPRING 2016.
Morna Young’s writing is powerfully rooted in their immediate loss, but the conflicting emotions she portrays and those she astutely leaves unspoken are the bone marrow of our humanity. Morna Young is a playwright, actress and musician from Elgin. Book tickets for ‘Netting’ on Eventbrite
Shifting Sands Theatre – Arabian Nights and Days….

Three actors create a show that is both hilarious and moving in a refreshing and imaginative adaptation of the classic tales. This is the Arabian Nights as you have never seen them before!
A vivid interpretation of the stories spun by Scherazade, ARABIAN NIGHTS …and DAYS! is a feast of physical comedy, clowning and storytelling theatre. Come on a magic carpet ride to a universe full of laughter, danger and wonder! See how to trick an evil genie, mix magic potions, open the door that hides the secrets of the world, teach a parrot to become your personal spy … and much, much more!

Athenaeum Winds
Athenaeum Winds is a diverse, adaptable and lively group with a passion for performing and making classical music accessible to all. Their concert programmes are a tasteful mix of core wind quintet repertoire, new music and classic favourites.
