February is #lovetoPAINT month

Voluntary Arts, who work to promote and increase active participation in cultural activities across the UK and Republic of Ireland, are encouraging us to take part in the #lovetoPAINT campaign. Following the success of January’s #lovetoUPCYCLE which saw creative people sharing their inspiring upcycling ideas on social media, this February why not join with other active and imaginative people from across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland in grabbing your paint brushes and taking part in social projects for the #lovetoPAINT campaign!
The history of painting is as long as it is complex, and the health and social benefits of painting are countless! Voluntary Arts have explored some of them, along with great tips from painting professionals, in their New Year’s Resolutions article on their website. February makes painting an even more social activity thanks to a couple of great #Loveto initiatives.
‘#lovetoPAINT with friends’ calls on painting classes and groups, or get-togethers of friends who love to collaborate to paint their own masterpiece. Whether you choose Van Gogh’s Sunflowers or Munch’s The Scream, join with friends and grab a brush each, create your masterpiece and share the results with others on Twitter using #lovetoPAINT.
Voluntary Arts and #Loveto exists to shine a spotlight on those who give up their time with passion to support participation in the arts. In a project which marries celebrating taking part with championing those volunteers who improve our lives, ‘Unsung Heroes’ asks painters across the UK to profile their local heroes such as lollipop ladies, sports coaches, teaching assistants, firemen, community police officers and paint a picture of them, then take a photo of the painting and post it up with the story of the person and why they are an unsung hero, tagged to #lovetoPAINT.
Powered by Voluntary Arts, the #LoveTo campaign gives people a place to swap ideas and experiences, share in a nationwide project and celebrate ideas and successes throughout the year, focusing on different creative activities each month.
Tens of thousands of people have shared their creativity through this campaign over the last year. #Loveto is also supported by BBC Get Creative and the Spirit of 2012.
