Perthshire Creates invites you to come along to a complimentary ‘Creative Business Support’ Day

We’re delighted to have a selection of speakers who are going to share their experience and expertise in areas which will help anyone working in the creative industries.  From how to ‘sell’ your own creations, events and artwork, overcoming social media hurdles, how to photograph your work to approaching galleries.  This is an opportunity to refresh and boost your creative business, even includes lunch!

1.30-3.30pm – Understanding Social Media, the value of ‘engagement’ and reaching the right audience. De-mystifying social media options and more.

3.45-4.45pm – ‘How to take ‘professional’ images of your work with minimal expense’

If you wish to attend the ‘Business Support Day’ please register on Eventbrite as places are limited and we need to arrange lunchtime catering. Please also note that the 3.45pm photography session is available for a max of 20 people, so please ensure you register for this when signing up.  A waiting list will be in operation, so if after signing up you’re no longer able to attend, please let us know so we can offer the place to someone else.

 

Brief details about the presentations:

‘Effective Selling Skills for the non salesperson’ will be presented by Sandy McCurdy, an experienced sales trainer who will present –

• What excellent sales people know

• How to set objectives and achieve them

• How to build relationships quickly with potential buyers

• How to achieve increased sales

Sandy McCurdy has held many senior sales, training and marketing roles with a variety of organisations. Over the last few years, he has helped many sales people to improve their performance through the application of knowledge and skills. Sandy believes that anyone can sell if they are prepared to take action.

‘De-mystify Social Media’ – Creation Social Media are a Perth based company and will present the afternoon session. Whether you tweet daily or warily post occasionally, social media is a fast changing communication tool which can be an effective way to both update your own profile and stay informed. Their presentation includes –

• Understanding the value of ‘engagement’ via social media and how to reach the right audience

• An overview of current and emerging social media sites

• A brief look at the advantages/pitfalls of adopting a free website platform

• How to get the best from using images & videos

You may wish to bring along your own mobile device as some parts of this presentation can be optionally followed on line, although not necessary to follow the presentation. Creation Social Media started 5 years ago and ‘walk the talk’ as they built their own business successfully using social media.  They focus on keeping information straightforward, practical and jargon free and want to make online activity easier to manage and effective.

‘A Good Image’ Dave Hunt is a photographer based in Killin whose fine art photographic work varies from landscapes and still life to salt print, figures, dancers and more, he also runs a selection of workshops for individuals, groups, indoor or outdoor. All tuition concentrates on being creative with your equipment rather than technical instruction and is suitable for the beginner and the more advanced…….. with any level of camera!  This session will look at how to take a good product shot and photograph wall art, as well as tricks of the trade using either your phone or digital camera.

‘Do’s & Dont’s when approaching galleries’ – Hugh Goring from Frames Gallery in Perth will be talking about the Do’s & Dont’s when approaching a gallery to sell your work. Frames Gallery is a family run business operating in Perth for the last 36 years, with an enviable reputation for showing some of the best in contemporary Scottish Art & Craft, alongside an award winning picture framing workshop.
