Autism : Hearts of Angels Exhibition at Birnam Arts

February 19, 2016 by Perthshire Creates

Autism : Hearts of Angels is the March Exhibition at Birnam Arts from 2nd – 31st March, open daily from 10 – 5pm.

The opening event is on Sunday 6th March from 2-4pm and all are welcome.

Autism : Hearts of Angels Exhibition features the work of Bankfoot based documentary photographer Graham Miller.  In June 2015 Graham visited Greece to investigate the impact of the financial crisis on the disabled community.  He spent several days living in a house with twelve adults affected by severe autism. Autism: derived from the Greek work autós, meaning self.

In this, his latest work and third visit to Birnam Arts, he shares his experiences from inside the house.  Graham’s work is heavily inspired by the plight of persons with disabilities and the effect on their lives and he hopes that by seeing this exhibition and thinking about what they see, visitors will emerge with a better understanding of autism.

More information about Grahams’ work can be found on his own artist website
