Hit the trail with Oor Wullie

This summer 50 giant Oor Wullie statues will descend on Dundee, Perth and the surrounding area for the biggest public art event the region has ever seen. It will celebrate our heritage, generate civic pride and showcase the region’s status as a vibrant and culturally exciting city.

The ARCHIE Foundation are calling on artists and designers from all over Scotland to get involved and submit designs for their own Oor Wullie sculpture.

Designs in any art form are welcome – traditional to new media, fine art to illustrations, graffiti to mosaic, embroidery to metalwork. Whatever the medium, the ARCHIE Foundation are inviting participation from professional artists and enthusiastic amateurs, artist groups, young people, designers, architects and photographers

If commissioned, artists will receive an honorarium of £800 on completion of the artwork.

The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail hopes to promote the importance of art & design and help bring a bit of revenue into the creative sector. It will help make design & creativity more accessible to the public & include all sorts of folks in the current cultural & creative buzz around the city. Through this event the ARCHIE Foundation hope to introduce businesses to the arts, create new commissions and introduce new audiences to Scotland’s creative offering.

The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail is a unique opportunity for you to showcase your work on a grand scale. Similar events have generated enormous interest, creating massive footfall, generating widespread media coverage & creating a sense of pride and community cohesion in their host cities and towns.

Best of all, following the event, the artworks will be auctioned to raise invaluable funds for the ARCHIE Foundation and Tayside Children’s Hospital.  Who knows where your design will end up?
