stART working in partnership with AYP on outdoor light installation

As part of stART 2015, the committee organised a taster workshop in Alyth hosted by the Alyth Youth Parnership (AYP) on portraiture, creative blending and editing with photographer Kenny Bean. stART have now secured a grant from the Drumderg Community Fund to continue this activity with the group into the winter. Kenny will be creating an outdoor light installation with the youth group in preparation for the Alyth Christmas Lights Switch On which takes place on Saturday 28th of November. There will also be lantern making workshops in Alyth nearer the time for members of the community to come along and make willow and tissue paper lanterns to be used at the event. On Monday 26th October Kenny held his first residency session with AYP who were out and about in Alyth experimenting with creating light pictures in the town.

The Strathmore Arts Festival – stART – is a community-based Arts Festival organised and run by volunteers from East Perthshire. The aim of the group is to provide opportunities for local people to participate in a variety of high quality of arts workshops, projects and events on their doorsteps. stART organise a biennial participatory arts festival, but also run ad-hoc activities throughout the year, usually in partnership with other local groups and organisations.
